About May Globus
Vancouver City Editor May Globus is obsessed with the sartorial and all that surrounds it: art, design, culture, music and film. Oh, and she really likes writing about it, too. A left coast girl at heart, her Sweetspot finds just might show why the westside really is the best side.

If there is anything that defines fashion and function, it's the timepiece.
Admittedly, I use my watch more so for the former reason, rather than the latter — though if my phone is buried too deeply in my purse, I'll glance at my left wrist to confirm the hour. Timepieces, to me, say a lot about a person's personality. I find that fashion-forward girls like the big and masculine watches. Sporty types love lots of dials and timers, and classic gentleman are usually divided into two camps: leather straps and all-metal.

I want.
Storied watch brand Omega, who opened their only Canadian store in the Hotel Vancouver during the 2010 Olympics, has styles for every watch lover out there — and now they have more space in the Vancouver store to house it all, too.

Triple in size.
Expanded into nearly triple the size, the boutique is lined in cases of the finest wrist candy, including an exclusive Tourmaline (let's just say price upon request for this one). There are the Seamaster Chronographs and Speedmasters for men, and a little more dainty, crystal-encrusted rose gold style for ladies. The brand, intent on not boxing itself solely into the timepiece category, also now boasts fine jewellery, leather goods and fragrances.

There's fine jewellery, too.
A well-heeled crowd came out to the store's relaunch, every person circling the glass displays anchored at the centre of the room. I could clearly see the impressive watch collection my mind was quickly curating, as I moved from display case to display case (while also carefully and mentally picking outfits to go with each).
In the end, I'll always have time for anything with fashion and function.

The Tourmaline.
