About May Globus
Vancouver City Editor May Globus is obsessed with the sartorial and all that surrounds it: art, design, culture, music and film. Oh, and she really likes writing about it, too. A left coast girl at heart, her Sweetspot finds just might show why the westside really is the best side.
Dine Out Vancouver 2012

The people of this city sure are spoiled.
We have beaches. We have mountains. And we have so much culinary talent and food options, it can be difficult to make any sort of decisions involving a hungry stomach.
Dine Out Vancouver makes it easy, though. For almost two weeks, this annual food fest has the best restaurants in town banding together to offer everyone a three-course (each course has at least two options), price fixe menu at a completely affordable price. Every year, the resto roster gets better, too — this year includes Hawksworth Restaurant at the Rosewood Hotel Goergia, Xi Shi Lounge at the Shangri-La and Black + Blue on Alberni.
I did a tour of a few of the Glowbal Group establishments — Black + Blue, Society, Glowbal Grill and Sanafir — for this year's event. Despite the 'lower-quality' stigmas that can be blindly associated with a Dine Out experience, the good things remained: impeccable service, attentive servers, delicious dishes and all food and wine questions you may have answered expertly.

Sweet potato and pulled pork croquette.

Grilled beef tataki.
And that's what's so great about this culinary fest — each establishment treats its patrons with the same service and respect as they'd receive on a normal dining night out.
So if you've been late to the jump, you can still review menus from participating restaurants here and call in to make reservations. Word is that some of the more population restaurants, like Hawksworth, have already been booked up, but check back often for cancellations.
Happy eating!
