Summer lovin’, had me a blast. Summer lovin’, happened so fast...
But that only means that my true love, Fall, is ever so lustily moving my way. And
while others moan and berate the inevitable Calgary snow that might only be weeks away, I rejoice at the sight of my knee high boots, plethora of scarves, and array of toasty sweaters ready for a pumpkin-spiced-latte-sipping, cozy good time.
And while I too mourn (albeit briefly) the soon-to-be-gone ability to enjoy an al fresco cocktail, I look forward to the crisp fresh air, and a number of nights out, with my fair city pulling plus-one duty.
Here are my top 3 ‘can’t wait’s’ of the season:
200 films, 100 countries, and for this movie fanatic, a buffet fit for overstuffing (minus the shame, bloating, and gall-bladder attacks.) On my agenda: Pedro Almodovar’s star-crossed love story
Broken Embraces, starring Penelope Cruz, and the Canadian
Prom Night in Mississippi, about Charlston Mississippi’s first integrated (and Morgan Freeman-funded) high school prom.
Before I decide to finally give skinny jeans a try (and ponder the apocalyptic return of acid wash!), best to check these and other fashion verdicts at the week-long celebration of all things a la mode. Especially looking forward to showings by Calgary’s own
alala, and
Dutche Blonde.
A sucker for doomed and tragic love (a little sadist? perhaps...), it doesn’t get better than Shakespeare’s ode to angst, love and lust. And I’ll be eating up every jete’d moment of it.
Happy fall everyone!
