You have probably noticed that Sweetspot has gotten a bit of a makeover. Same great content, a little fresher, a little cleaner. So, to celebrate the change, and show some Sweetlife solidarity, I too have decided to go a little fresher, a little cleaner—and undergo a fall hair ‘do-over. (And judging by my before shots, not a moment too soon!)

While I have been trying, (painstakingly!), to re-grow the length and locks of yesteryear, the scissors came out to play at
DK Envy last Friday. At the helm, my stylist and hair transformation artist, DK Envy owner, Darlene Kelsey. ‘Trust me’, she said, and so I did.
But not before I felt the prickly pangs of anxiety wash over me, surfacing like they always do every time I realize change is inevitable. Nerves were quickly soothed however, by a good cup of coffee, juicy gossip, and distracting Twilight/NewMoon talk. (Vampire chatter was key to complete hair-on-the-floor avoidance.)
I then headed into the make-up chair, where I experienced the eye-popping beauty of green eye shadow, and that makeup means more than mascara and the 32 tubes of lip tints, sticks and glosses that currently occupy a major chunk of residence in my purse.
A couple hours (and a few calming deep breaths and hugs later), I happily strode out the salon doors, to meet my husband for a post-makeover lunch reveal. Apprehensive—knowing that men are notorious in their affinity for longer manes—, I took the fact there was a whistle, and that he paid for lunch, as positive signs.
That said and done, it’s off to the shops. New fall hair means a new fall wardrobe. It’s simply the logical next step.
Here are some of my new favourite products that helped shape (and maintain), my new look:
