About Michaelle LeManne
Calgary City Editor Michaelle LeManne believes that every writer has to have a bit of an ego to think that others truly care about what they have to say. She promises to keep hers in check however, and simply tell it how she sees it out in the wild west.
A new year is upon us, which means another 365 days in which to complete (or not!) the mother of all to-do lists: The New Year’s Resolutions.
Looking back last year’s list, I didn’t fare too badly. I did more than one thing that terrified me (I flew by myself for the first time, and got a tattoo), I lost a fair bit of weight (and gained some back after my surgery), and even though I have yet to finish, I made serious headway in the writing of my novel.
So as I get ready to construct another self-improvement opus, I am awash in optimism, and think of all that is to come, and all that I would like to manifest in 2010. There are the standards, like lose a few more pounds, eat healthier, and be more active—a general must-do for most of us, who hit the gyms with gusto every January 1st.
There’s the resolve to be more green, lessening my ecological footprint with every step.
The goal to finish my novel is once again on the agenda, 2010 (hopefully!)being the year to finally complete my coming of age dramancedy (drama/romance/comedy–catchy combo, no?).
Then there are the abstracts, like experience something new, and do at least one thing that would ordinarily make me upchuck with fear. I simply can’t plan ahead for these, and like my tattoo, these adventures will reveal themselves unexpectedly, and in due time.
So while all of you make your goals and plans and ring in the new decade with fervor and expectation, remember to take a sip of champagne for me! The calorie counting starts at midnight.
Happy New Year Calgary!
