Although the sun is setting on my time in Italy, there are many memories that I will take back with me. Here are some of the highlights:
Relais Villa Petrischio: I simply could not have picked a more beautiful place to stay. The views were spectacular, the ambiance would make a Jane Austen heroine weep, and the people were some of the most wonderful I have ever met. Not to mention the tantalizing food at La Terrazza, the onsite restaurant where I tried to satiate my need for risotto daily.
It was the perfect place to feel inspired, and (nearly!) finish my novel.

Del Brenna Jewellery: I wandered into this Cortona shop my second day, and instantly fell in love with the unique pieces, as well as the family (twin brothers, their wives and parents) that designs, crafts, and runs this beautiful jewellery boutique in the heart of Tuscany. I even came back with a custom-made freshwater pearl ring that perfectly memorializes my trip—simply stunning.

The Lions Well Pub: There is nothing like watching a soccer game at a pub in a country where watching soccer (excuse me, football), is not unlike a religious experience. I had the pleasure of watching the U.S./England World Cup match at The Lions Well in Cortona, a mythical place of strange-tasting cosmos (yes, I ordered a Cosmo at an Italian pub!), and drinks that could knock elephants on their behinds. (No, they do not measure. They just pour. And pour.) What a night.

Gelato: If someone were to cut me open during my Italian stay, I would have bled risotto and gelato. As Italian as, well, Italy, I could not get enough of the pistachio and hazelnut flavours.
Valdichiana Outlet Village: As my husband exclaimed—‘leave it to you to find an outlet mall half a world away’. About 10 minutes from my villa, brands like Valentino and Cavalli were represented a plenty. I walked away with gifts for the family, as well as an irresistibly soft, cream leather Cavalli bag.
