Hola from Cabo!
As I write this I am sitting beachside, trying not to complain of the intense heat today. I will instead count my blessings and leave it at that…
After much resistance over the years, this is my first foray into all-inclusive resort territory. I would describe myself as more of an explorer type, and the idea of being ‘stuck’ at a resort never much appealed to me.
That being said, I must now eat a hearty helping of humble pie. Having been here at the Riu Palace for five amazing days thus far, being ‘stuck’ isn’t quite the word I would use to describe this welcome captivity.
In between soaking up the sun, swimming, (of course drinking), making new friends, and kicking it beachside, I have ventured into the world of surfing, which I have surprisingly taken to better than expected. What a feeling for a klutz like me to firmly plan both feet on a surf board in the gleaming Pacific Ocean, and catch my first wave. I’m heading out to Old Man’s Beach again this morning…
I’ve even been able to get some dancing in, going on one of the best bar crawls I’ve ever been on—one that even crowed me Beer Pong Champion before the night was out. (It is a hat I wear with pride. But really, there should have been a crown. Or at least an simple tiara.)
Plus, throw in the fact that I have all but finished my first novel, this trip has been worthwhile in more ways than I can count.
Ok, all that being said, I still miss home, and look forward to touching down in Calgary at the end of this week to enjoy some beautiful fall weather.
Orange-coloured walks through Fish Creek Park await.
Until then, buenos dias.
