My name is Michaelle, and I’m an Etsy-holic. It’s been two days since my last purchase.
While the goal of a two-week
Etsy freeze-out is likely to end in relapse (I just have to have that
Two Peas in a Pod necklace!), I start the day with hope, and the stare-ahead bypass of the evil temptress, my computer.
The last year has seen me indulge in various hand-made goods from just as an assorted range of artisans from this heavenly hand-made emporium. I have become a repeat of offender to many a shops, often indulging in the sweetest of Etsy experiences—the custom item.

Whether it was
MoonmuM’s fantastic custom-made Mother’s Day card, or a custom color-matched ring bearer pillow by
Reggieana for my best friend’s upcoming wedding, I am an Etsy force that cannot be stopped.
Of course I am going to shift atleast some of the blame on Etsy itself, for the deliberate (and magical!) showcase on the home page, that like the Garden of Eden, seduces with promises of beautiful jewelry and must-have throw pillows at every click.

But sadly, I must take stock—did my husband need the recycled record business card holder for his office? Did my 22-month old-son really need
TWO shirts with ‘nervous robots’? Did I need the
green cube earrings,
multiple pendants or 97 greeting cards? (Sadly, that is not an inflation or exaggeration of any kind. That is indeed the number of cards I have bought in the last year—but to be fair, I send out a plethora of cards to acknowledge holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, weddings, showers, and I often have a reason to thank people, so an abundance of thank-you cards must always be on hand..... )
Just like a real addict, the excuses are never in short supply.

As much as I would like to believe I needed all of the things I have bought, we all

know ‘need’ itself is never the fair ruler of Purchaseland. It is ‘want’ that rules with an unforgiveable iron first.
Sometimes, however, serendipity strikes, and the marriage of need and want must be celebrated. Case in point: I needed to adorn my bare dining room wall. I wanted
JMJ Studio’s stunning 4-piece Braille original canvas. Point, click, and ahhhhh. Mission accomplished.
