There seems to be an unspoken rule of it's-OK-on-vacay when it comes to some classic fashion don'ts.
We're not sure which is worse: an entire wardrobe of wrinkle-free fabrics or appearing to be a spokesperson for stuffed-in-suitcase creases.
Even when we're not on home turf, we'd prefer to put in a little effort to look good.
Helping our out-of-town hotness crusade? The Rowenta Travel Iron ($50). Just launched in Canada, when we tested it out our first thought was that it worked just as well as a regular iron. Considering it's miniscule compared to the average - about the size and weight of a pair of shoes (1.65 lbs and 7.8 inches folded, if you want to get technical) - we were impressed.
It has many of the features - albeit miniaturized - of other Rowenta irons (the same features that helped them build a cult following in the fashion industry). The quick-heating, highly polished stainless steel plate makes for a smooth glide, while 200 micro-holes distribute steam evenly. A specially designed "high precision tip" makes it easy to get into the fussy bits (oh, collars). We can switch the dial to work on whatever fabric we choose, and control the steam (bursts, constant, or just off). When we'd rather leave our dress on the hanger, we can flip the iron up and use it as a mini garment steamer. With all that versatility, there's not much we're scared to pack these days.
And we can truly take it anywhere; with a dual voltage switch that flips between two heating elements (unlike most that just keep you safe from frying yourself), the iron is actually as powerful at 120 volts as it is at 240 volts. Throw in a convenient little travel bag, and we don't have anything left to ask for...
Unless someone is willing to do the ironing for us.
