When it comes to Internet shopping, we definitely consider ourselves well travelled. And from L.A. to London, we've got the goods (and the VISA bill) to prove it.
But whenever we came up against Japan, we were always loath to shell out. From puzzling over Japanese characters to balking at shipping costs, things were definitely lost in translation.
So when cubeshops recently opened in Toronto, we were happy to finally tackle Japanese goods on home turf. With helpful staff explaining the less obvious items on the store's cleanly stocked shelves, we navigated the best Japan has to offer in the comfort of our own city.
Currently in store is the MoMa-featured +d line. We immediately fell in love with its design-friendly, whimsical products -- from the Picnica Tote Bag (that packs up into the shape of a rabbit) ($50) to the great for guests Pop-Up Slippers ($26) to fun Paint Tube Doorstoppers ($8), we adored the bevy of utilitarian products masquerading as adorable art.
And because the store aims to aquaint Canadians with less familiar Japanese brands, they’re switching up their stock in a few months to bring us a whole new design line to swoon over.
Consider us cubists in the making.
