It only works with the help of candles from the newly opened Ambiente, where the scent and colour is blended throughout the high-quality, hand-poured wax, and the lead-free wicks are specially coated for a long-lasting, strong flame. (We think it’s the authentic aromas of these Canadian-made candles that make them so effective.)

It’s happy time with the vibrant green colour and fresh scent of Lemongrass. Hunger soon follows when we light up Vanilla Cinnamon, which looks like an appetizing block of caramelized sugar. Ambiente offers twelve varieties of mood-swinging scents and a broad range of sizes, from unscented tapers ($2) for the dinner table (we wouldn’t want our lemon chicken competing with a Clementine candle) to dramatic pillars ($170) for our living room floor. Paired with their complementary line of bath products, we can elicit instant rejuvenation (Fresh Citrus bath salts, $22/500mL) or stimulation (Exotic Vanilla body oil, $19.95/100mL).

When we’re ready to pass on this gift of emotional mastery to our friends, we can add our own selection to a basket ($5-$9, fancy cellophane wrapping included) or pick up something pre-made. (Just one more way we’re bringing joy to the world.)
