Betcha Can't Buy Just One...
Ziggy's at HomeToronto
(Nov.30.06)
We admit we like a challenge. We colour-coordinate our calendars with our eyes closed and can dish up a dinner party (or at least hide the take-out containers) on a moment's notice.
So when a friend recently dared us to visit Ziggy's at Home and only buy one thing (our shopping equivalent to that Lays chip campaign), we chose to rise to the occasion.
And we were resolved not to break. Until we walked into the all-the-hard-to-find-lines-we-covet kind of store, that is. First our eyes fell to bright and mismatched Rosanna teapot ($40) and suddenly we had to serve up scones and Earl Grey to our girlfriends ASAP.
Then it was the wall of all-French bath lines, like Lothantique's ginger shower gel ($19). The jig was up – this was definitely going to be a plural-purchases kind of day. And don't get us started on the $13 handmade Tom & Sally's sugar and salt-dusted chocolate-covered almonds. Hit our Cracker Jack craving zone with an air of sophistication (just didn't last the drive home for the intended hostess gift).
Okay, maybe one buy per room is a more fitting dare. Aw, who are we kidding? We never could eat just one anyway.
