With holiday social season upon us, we're back in hostess mode - and focused on making sure the home front looks as good as we do in our little black dress. And with visions of Al Gore dancing in our heads, we're putting our most environmentally friendly foot forward.
Enter Ami McKay - interior designer extraordinaire (check out her work on HGTV's Makeover Wish) and a guru on sustainable design. She advised us on bamboo flooring, low-volt lighting and eco-spec paint. Even better, she's come out with PURE, a line of eco-friendly upholstered furniture that means we don't have to sacrifice style for sustainability.
PURE offers different looks, each inspired by the four elements: Air, fire, water and earth. Fire toyed with our traditional side, conjuring images of stately suppers and afternoons of croquet. Water was all Hollywood glamour - cocktails and witty banter with Spencer Tracy.
In the end, we couldn't decide between the mid-century minimalism of Air and the sheer coziness of Earth, so we went for both. Who knew saving the environment could be so self-satisfying?
