When Hairy Met Silk’n

Toronto (Oct.03.08)

We would like to thank modern technology for a few things:

  1. The Internet
  2. TiVo
  3. Silk’n, a new pulsed light hair removal system ($800) that lets us take care of our Chewbacca spots in the comfort of our own home.

After basic training at SpaMedica, we confidently started our own follicle-fighting sessions. The process is idiot-proof (as in doable pre-coffee, watching TV); after a click of a button, a flash of light – and in most spots, zero pain – we zoom along to the next patch in our target area. Anywhere below the neck is fair game (legs are easy… bikini line requires some yoga moves). The handheld device only works when we’ve pressed it against our skin, so there’s no chance of a misfire.

Tested by dermatologists, cosmetic physicians and plastic surgeons in a year long clinical study, Silk’n is proven to produce results similar to professional treatments – just not as quickly. We’re willing to be patient, considering the price and the privacy (frankly, we’ve got some hair we don’t care to share).

Our light skin and dark hair means we’ll get optimal results (they’re working on a model for darker skin) – so in a few months time, we’ll be saying goodbye to our daily pluck n’shave routine. (Thanks, science.)
