Rock Beats Paper

mitzmail greeting cardscanada (Dec.10.08)

Scissors cut paper, rock crushes scissors and paper trumps rock, right? Well, we’ve found paper made without harming a single tree that definitely beats them all.

The tree-free, bleach-free, water-free stuff is actually made from rocks and non-toxic resin and now available as mitzmail, a new line of greeting cards. And since ’tis the season for sharing cards, we thought it the perfect time to share this eco-friendly secret.

Montreal-based Mitz brought this revolutionary stuff–called Terraskin–exclusively to Canada and then added their own sweet design spin (click on “galleries” to preview and purchase the cards, $6). Each card is blank and comes packaged in a reusable clear envelope with an address label and a pretty gold sticker to seal it all up.

Luckily the days of sacrificing style to be green are long gone (thank you, hippies). With patterns such as the abstract white and red floral of breathe, tranquil white cloud of dreams and season-specific choices like stoneflake, these cards are guaranteed prime mantle placement.

We always threw rock first anyway.
