Houston (substitute with city of choice or name of BFF), we have a problem. We’re looking for a store that carries sustainable, fashionable, socially conscious, new and consignment women’s wear and men’s clothing AND accessories under one roof. The solution?
It’s Planet Claire boutique, of course.
Claire Burke’s newly opened store – in history-draped Gastown – is out of this world (pardon the pun). Walking by the shop, we swear we could sense a connection with the clothes inside (it happens). How could it not? With a collection that includes Elroy Apparel, Lilikoi, Soi Disant, Meadow and ELA, we were just getting a glimpse of her inventory. Anastasia Lomonova’s batman-style sweater dress ($119) in gold and blue quickly became our favourite. Cleveland designer Duchess von Dudik’s psychedelic print dress ($219) also got our attention (it’s hard to miss greens, purples, yellows and reds melted together on a silk-print design with mesh sleeves). As did made by cate’s recycled hot pink leather clutch ($160), the tiger tie by Nick Canada ($59) and the graffiti lamp by Re-Surface.
Sweet goodness, we have lift off…
