Kitsilano’s come a long way from its hippy-go-lucky roots.
Swanky eateries, upscale mom and baby stores, über-stylish giftware... but shops stocked with local designers?
(We had to head to Main Street for those.)
Enter Ingenue. The newly-opened store -- tucked into a long, narrow space awash in natural light and nature-inspired décor -- is chalk-a-block with lines (some organic) from Vancouver’s own. Its lengthy list includes hometown favourites Nicole Bridger, Dace, Peel, Sunja Link, Elroy, CiCi, Erin Templeton, Sans Soucie, Lily + Jae, Togs, Two of Hearts, Ashley Jestin and Bueno Style.
The bohemian Mini hobo bag by Erin Templeton ($249) had us drooling over its inner and outer pockets, whisky colour and adjustable straps. With its sash and peek-a-boo cutout neckline, the black Grace blouse by Peel ($109) had us at hello. And the tunic-style Sheila Dress by Dace ($189) -- made from Japanese silk with little cap sleeves and a gathered empire waist -- is right on trend.
Sticking to only Main Street for local fashion? So last year.
