Good things come to those who wait.
And to those willing to head out to Don Mills and Lawrence.
Yes, we’re talking about Anthropologie, the U.S.-outpost (and older sister to Urban Outfitters) that until Wednesday hadn’t had a Canadian presence.
We couldn’t resist an opening day visit to share our favourite finds (and see how those U.S. prices looked this side of the border).
If you’ve been in the States, the scene will be familiar – a mix of pretty prints, casual dresses and home goods (they even have the sale nook at the back).
We fell for the metallic linen and lace racerback Sweet Olive Shift ($218), styled on the hanger with equally adorable bright green Sand and Sea Bolero ($98). The hard-to-pack house wares had us excited to finally shop without considering suitcase space and we loved the bright lampshades ($48-$98) and monogrammed mugs ($8). We couldn’t resist the Rosette barrettes ($18) for a less expensive indulgence but as they were right next to the mustard (or grey) silk Gables Dress ($168), we can’t say we saved for long. (Though we were pleasantly surprised to find most pieces priced a few bucks less than the Canadian online shopping option.)
Now we’re just waiting on that Yorkville location supposedly set for mid-summer. (Update: We got our wish in July.)
