Determined to continue our Earth Day efforts, we wanted to do more than use our recycling bin and ditch our aerosol hairspray (yes, we were the ones that still bought it).

So we’re changing our shopping habits for the greener with the help of Riva’s Eco Store. With clothes, jewellery, home improvement and everything in between, this newcomer is a one-stop shop for style-meets-socially-conscious.
Our new green thinking begins with Deborah Lindquist’s perky pink recycled vintage cashmere sweaters ($300), perfect for Calgary’s cool nights. Mohop’s recycled wood wedges ($228 – $298) have six different ribbons to choose from, giving us a myriad of colours for the summer.
We’re accessorizing with sunglasses from iWood ($350), made from the inside of old luxury jets, Billy Would earrings ($32), which use reclaimed guitar wood, and a Jack & Marjorie messenger bag (65 - $165), constructed from recycled army duffle bags (complete with the real soldier’s name patch).
We are looking forward to Riva’s environmental workshops coming this summer – where we can learn a whole lot more about saving this planet. And looking good, too (green is definitely the new black).
