The move to reduce our carbon footprint has brought out our inner environmentalist, while the current economic climate has us pinching pennies at every opportunity (our fingertips are starting to swell).
And while reusing old clothing is easy, finding ways to recycle other household treasures (read: junk) is a bit more challenging.
But now there’s a new star on the arts and crafts scene. Intent on inspiring everyone from the ages of seven to 77, FÉNOMÈNE is the brainchild of Daisy Delobelle and Eric Devos, whose self-described “unusual, colourful and dreamlike” atelier is an immense source of ingenuity.
Flexing their creative muscles, Daisy and Eric showed us the Plastic Beaded Bracelets ($20) and the fabulously retro Vintage Fabric Wall Art ($60), clearly demonstrating their waste-not attitude (with a dash of entrepreneurship). The artistry continued with the Crazy Plastic Rings ($20) and the 300-unit strong collection of Vintage Keychains ($1 each). Arts & Crafts Creation Workshops ($20 – all materials included) are also offered periodically and can be arranged by appointment.
While me may not possess their MacGyver–like salvaging skills (though a workshop might fix that), we love how well their new creations fit into our home – and with our values.
