About Stephania Varalli
Stephania Varalli was sweetspot.ca’s first employee and is currently off on one of her many adventures (though thanks to her life motto of "seemed like a good idea at the time," she still has a myriad of stories archived to enjoy).
I have learned a new language: Spa-nish (that's SPAWNISH, in case you haven't caught on to my nerdtastic wordplay). Since I've willingly put my body through bootcamp, I figured I deserved some pampering. (Side note: new word I learned at boot camp this week: plyometrics. Which is bootcampanese for pain of a thousand hells).
But we're here to talk about my spa experience. First, the original version, from The Spa at the InterContinental Toronto Centre.
The Spa Key Senses Treatment ($250)
This holistic treatment touches on all 5 senses, combining exotic aromatherapy and ancient heat therapy to surrender you to a deep state of relaxation while revitalizing your skin and body. Then, by combining hot stone treatments and massage with organic oils, muscle tension is melted away while the skin is revitalized to induce an even greater state of relaxation, while stimulating circulation & lymphatic flow. The treatment finishes with a customized facial designed to cleanse, tone, and exfoliate your skin.
And here's my translation:
Escape From Winter Blues And Holiday Crazy Treatment ($ Priceless)
Arrive and try to figure out my eternal spa question: Underwear on or off? (Verdict: Off.) Laying face down on the table, breathe in an instantly relaxing blend of essential oils. After hot stones are placed head to toe, become so relaxed in the following full body massage I almost fall asleep. Flip over for a continuation of the hot stone heaven, and this time actually fall asleep. Wake up with a massive leg twitch; wonder if this makes me look crazy. Stop caring after scalp massage begins. Decide that combining a customized facial with a full body massage is the best idea ever. Ninety minutes later, sip on pre-selected ginger tea while secretly staring at my now glowing skin in the mirror. Spend rest of evening with an "I'm ok, you're ok" kind of grin on my face.
