About Stephania Varalli
Stephania Varalli was sweetspot.ca’s first employee and is currently off on one of her many adventures (though thanks to her life motto of "seemed like a good idea at the time," she still has a myriad of stories archived to enjoy).
According to a recent study published in the Journal of Consumer Research, watching commercials will make you enjoy your TV program more.
Here's how they say it works: When we watch a show, we like it less and less as every minute goes by -a result of "adapting" to it. When a break is introduced, we don't have the time to get bored and familiar. We spend our days floating in the true love stage.
And this is why I don't believe in studies.
Ever since TiVo entered my life, I regularly enjoy my programming without having to sit through people selling me on stuff I don't need. I find it very hard to believe that I'd like watching the TV more if I were forced to watch commercials as well. (Which, in my humble opinion, just aren't as good as they used to be.)
Maybe I need to work on patience. Or maybe I need to spend less time finding obscure science studies on the Internet.
