It was the best of times, it was the...actually, they were all good times during our test drive of the American Express AIR MILES Platinum Credit Card. We’re recapping our experiences here to share what was so fabulous about the card and the collateral rewards.
After having seen the fine goods to be had in the AIR MILES Reward Miles catalogue, we got strategic about our purchases to maximize our miles earned (hey, we’re goal setters. And if a goal is a single brew specialty coffee machine, so be it). So we made sure to always use our AMEX card at gas, grocery and drugstores, and with one mile earned for every $10 spent on this new card, let’s just say that the miles came pouring in. We also got smart and shopped at more AIR MILES sponsors for the same earn. And if we purchased a little something something somewhere else, we still earned one mile for every $15 spent. That was fabulous.
We were able to rack up the miles to redeem for some gorgeous new bedding, a luxury we strongly recommend. And because we like to use our credit card for almost all of our purchases to maximize points, it won’t be long before we’re able to redeem for a great experiential vacation, just in time to banish the winter blues.
We also liked the low interest rate of 2.99% on purchases for the first year (provided we make our minimum monthly payments). This time of year, we tend to need the luxury of carrying a credit card balance and we appreciated minimizing the money going towards interest (yes Dad, we will pay off our balance in January. Just let us enjoy the holiday season).
By using our American Express AIR MILES Platinum Credit Card for purchases we need to make anyhow, we loved being able to splurge by redeeming for items we don’t technically need (bamboo towels, anyone?).
Because a little indulgence now and then is a good thing. Especially when it’s free!
