If you don't deal well with crowds, don't attempt to come to a Pink Tartan show.

Designer Kimberly Newport-Mimran packs a house (and the collection shows why). The overhead announcer sounded more and more beleaguered as the night wore on, practically pleading with people to clear the runway and take their seats (or chastising the dilly-dalliers).

Soon enough the lights went down, a rocking soundtrack piped in and a belted black and white bustier-style dress hit the stage. What followed were edgier looks than I've come to expect from this now-classic line with a little less prep and a little more punk (sequins, leather, exaggerated shoulder caps, rompers and more).

Styling was a stand-out (fingerless gloves, socks in grey booties and buns with large front sections pulled down) but it was the clothes that most people were talking (and tweeting) about.

I loved a short grey leather trench (and am determined to try and see if big shoulder will work on those of us without model genes), the intentionally long belts (fold over the excess for a tied off look) and a black double-breasted blazer brimming with bold gold buttons, four front pockets and a blue lining peeking out from scrunched up sleeves.

I'm also thinking of pairing my nighttime sequin stuff with neutral knits to extend their wear into the day (hey, in Pink Tartan says it's OK...).

Fun all around - though my heels definitely didn't last in the break between Pink Tartan and husband's always-anticipated, Joe Fresh Style.
