The third show of the day drew in some serious Canadian star power. The front row included Jeanne Beker, designer Evan Biddell, MTV Host Aliya Jasmine and Degrassi's Adamo Ruggiero and Lauren Collins, all there to see Project Runway runner-up Jessica Biffi's Spring 2010 collection. And once the lights dimmed and the music started to pump, it was clear why.
Like something out of an 80's disco, the first look entered the runway with a glow-in-the-dark blacklight effect. A hot-pink number with a fitted bodice, pronounced waistline and skirt with rows of pleating had the crowd's attention. Look after fabulous look was then sent down the runway: big baubles, bracelets in all colours of the rainbow, cotton jumpsuits in pinks and corals, big playful rings and geisha-style hair.
I loved the light gold used throughout the collection, but being partial to pink, the standout look for me was a light pink cowl-neck cotton shirt under a hot pink cinched-waist silk pleated skirt. The collection was stunning with it's sweet candy feel: playful, fun and colourful. And when the last look left the runway and the announcer presented Jessica Biffi, the cheers were the loudest I'd heard all week.
