It was a sombre yet touching opening to the Gaudet show when the designers paid tribute to Georgian Olympian Nodar Kumaritashvili who tragically died on the opening day of the games (Gio Gaudet was born in Georgia).
But the mood quickly lifted during a pre-runway dance session when, in a very Pink-at-the-Grammys-esque move, one of the dancers spun around and flung what I can only assume was a good measure of sweat into the crowd.
Dramatics aside, the highlights of the collection were clearly the beautifully-tailored knee-length Merino wool coats. In rich shades of teal, green, cranberry, orange and gold, they (almost) made me wish coat season wasn’t coming to an end.
Now, only if I could find an excuse to rock that gold masquerade makeup.
