Pre-coffee isn't always pretty for us, but we were willing to brave a not-yet-caffeinated Monday morning for the Holt Renfrew Canadian Designer Breakfast.
Fashion VP Barbara Atkin and Fashion Television's Jeanne Beker emceed the show, walking us through a sampling of looks from five noted Canadians.
On hand (besides plenty of coffee): Jeremy Laing, Mikhael Kale, Greta Constantine's Stephen Wong and Kirk Pickersgill, Denis Gagnon and looks from an under-the-weather Lida Baday.
We were treated to fringe from Gagnon (which we'd gotten a glimpse of with our Montreal runway reports), Laing's Indigenous inspiration from fur to an abstract totem pole print, intricate detail from Kale (including that he's always sewing, often through the night), draped suiting from Greta Constantine and Baday's classic modern working woman's wardrobe.
A very good way to wake up.
