For his fall 2010 show entitled "Behind the Gates", Toronto-born Wesley Badanjak was inspired by memories of his grandmother to create a collection that maintained his signature tailored look while infusing the pieces with punches of colour and a modern sense of fluidity. Models marched down the runway in strong looks that were dark and rich, both in hue and texture. We immediately fell in love with the structured wool coats, particularly the winter white trench adorned with subtle detail which made us forget all about the approaching warm weather. Feminine silhouettes in sumptuous silks, satins, and soft wools were topped off with glamorous fur accents such as scarves, capelets and the unforgettable fingerless fur gloves.

A great mix of daywear and evening looks made sure there was something for everyone, from the wide leg trousers to the vibrant floral silk tops, all in opulent plums, greys, crimsons and a kick of bright raspberry. Standout pieces were the luxuriously flirty party dresses in shimmery black brocade, splatter print chiffon and slinky silk trimmed in rows of metal rivets that jingled to the beat of the music.

Looks like we might be storing away those recent boyfriend-inspired items come fall...
