On Tuesday night, in front of a jam-packed house, five up-and-coming fashion designers had the opportunity of a lifetime. They each showed their spring/summer collections to a room full of media, buyers and fashion industry professionals in a competition for a $5,000 prize from Mercedes Benz and IMG Fashion.
We were treated to items from Unttld, Triarchy, Cassie Dee, Travis Taddeo and Martin Lim. The finalists were selected from a nationwide search, and since being named finalists, have worked with industry professionals to help groom and grow their brand and collections.
Ultimately, it was Martin Lim who won the whole thing, with a fabulous collection of colour-blocked silks and chiffon — but each designer showed a collection to be proud of. From Unttld's black and white contrasting collection to Triarchy's genuis chambray pieces, each collection was wearable and offered the ultimate in spring fashions.
Martin Lim may have taken home the big prize, but every one of these designers came out looking like winners.
