Expert Tips: Dior Quick Wake-up Makeup
TIFF canada, Toronto
(Sep.11.08)
We asked Dior makeup expert Angie Semple for some advice on how to look beautiful when you’ve had no sleep and you’re always running out the door. She saved our festival face with these tips:
- Refresh a zombie stare by applying a hydrating mask (like Dior’s HydrAction Deep Hydration Intensive Mask) in a thick circle around the eyes (above eyebrows and on cheekbones just below the eye) and on the lips a few minutes before starting your makeup.
- The best look for fatigued eyes is a natural, light coloured eyeshadow paired with waterproof black eyeliner that is applied underneath the lash line (it fills in the gaps between your lid and lashes, giving a dramatic eye-opening pop).
- Late for late-night cocktails? Rub a thick layer of waterproof black liner in a small circle on the back of your hand, then use your ring finger to smudge it along the outer corner of the eye, pushing inwards and slightly upwards along the lid line.
- Treat mascara as a layering game. Start the day with a subtle curl and separate specialist (Diorshow Iconic), then get nighttime glam by layering on thickness (Diorshow), intense dark colour (Blackout) or length (Diorshow Unlimited) – or all three if you’re looking for drama!
- Get lasting dark lips (the look of the season) by rubbing lipliner in small, dark circle on the back of your hand, and applying with a lipbrush. Follow up with lipstick dabbed on with your finger. It’s a foolproof instant face refresher.
