Lounge Report: Swarovski Fashion Suite
canada, Toronto
(Sep.11.08)
Swarovski has been operating a Fashion Suite at the Four Seasons during TIFF for three years, inviting celebrities and stylists to borrow stunning crystal jewelry and accessories for red carpet appearances and movie premieres.
How it works: Stylists contact Swarovski explaining what their starlet needs – from a definition of the style (bold or demure?) to an explanation of the dress, hair and even makeup planned. The one-of-a-kind styles in The Red Carpet Collection and not sold in stores, so ladies can be spared from any handbag-twin drama. The team carefully selects options from the collection, including vintage styles that go back up to twenty years. Then it’s time to hope one will end up on the red carpet.
Celebrity fans: Swarovski’s Star Collector bag made it into the hands of Alicia Keys for the Golf Rocks RocknRolla Cabaret, and Louise Bourgoin for the premiere of La Fille de Monaco. Willa Holland wore the Fabulous bag to the Heckler premiere after party. Jully Black chose to walk the red carpet with a Flower bag.
For the not-so-famous: We might not be able to borrow the purple python clutch we drooled over in the lounge, but we can still get a hold of some star-powered Swarovski. With each Red Carpet Collection, one style is eventually made available to the public. Or we can pick up the Kiosk bag – worn by Kim Cattrall in the Sex and the City movie – available at Swarovski locations across Canada for $825.
