Lounge Report: Tastemakers Lounge
canada, Toronto
(Sep.12.08)
A film festival wouldn’t be complete without gifting suites, where celebrities receive free “swag” in exchange for a photo op and, hopefully, future exposure. Here’s the inside scoop on one of TIFFs hot swag spots:
Name: The Tastemakers Lounge
Where: InterContinental Toronto Yorkville Hotel
What: With twenty companies participating in the gifting, celebs were treated to items that included everything from clothing (Strellson, Joe Fresh) and beauty products (AG Hair, Burt’s Bees, Kiss My Face) to tasty treats (Ike & Sam’s popcorn, Salt Spring Coffee).
Who: Tim Robbins (The Lucky Ones) picked up a Trollbeads bracelet for his wife, Susan Sarandon. Danny Glover and Gil Bellows (Passchendaele, Toronto Stories) preferred Srellson while Sophia Bush (The Narrows) cleaned up at Joe Fresh. The young Hollywood set was represented by celebs like Rachel Blanchard (Adoration), Tristan Wilds (Secret Life of Bees; new 90210) and Nina Dobrev (Degrassi: The Next Generation). The cast of Dean Spanley – Toa Fraser, Jeremy Northam, Sam Neil, Bryan Brown – all stopped in. Representing the comedy world: Jason Jones (Cooper's Camera, The Daily Show), who loved the aluminum bottle of Eska water because he kept thinking he was drinking beer in the morning, and Mark McKinney (Kids In The Hall), who hates shopping but found picking things out at Strellson a “pleasant experience.”
