Restricting herself to an austere palette of black, white, grey and putty, designer Lauren Bagliore presented an edgy, modern Spring 2012 collection inspired by a recent trip around the world. 'We went to Florence, Paris, Qatar and Bangkok," said Bagliore. "I looked at all these amazing places and asked myself what they had in common: war and destruction. But there's still beauty everywhere. These things can only make you stronger."

Bagliore sent models down the runway in a series of convertible draped jersey dresses; many had asymmetrical hemlines and necklines. While she shied away from colour altogether ("I want people to appreciate the construction. Colour distracts," she said), Bagliore wasn't afraid to experiment with pattern, including tie-dye effects, optical illusion prints and a surprisingly lighthearted tortoise print splashed onto dresses and tops.

Among the highlights of the show were a gorgeous silver trench with a dramatically puffed collar, bold heavy-metal cuff bracelets and necklaces, and a black kimono-style jacket with horn buttons.
