Best known for their ultra-feminine draped jersey goddess dresses, Greta Constantine's Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong gave their loyal customers and devoted followers exactly what they wanted by kicking off their latest collection with a parade of those dresses in every colour of the rainbow for spring. Models swished by in more than a dozen variations on the theme in Crayola-bright shades of red, cobalt, turquoise and orange — with a little eggplant and olive green thrown in for good measure — before the designers stepped onto the runway and took their first bow, as if to signal the end of the Grecian era.
The show was far from over. Mixed in with pieces from the Ezra Constantine menswear line was edgy, avant-garde womenswear in a monochromatic palette of black, white and grey that kept the focus on details like ruching, asymmetrical exposed zippers and fabric that trailed like capes behind the models. Our favourite look of the evening was a floor-length grey jersey dress paired with a cropped, buttery leather jacket — we're already wondering how we've managed so long without those pieces, which now seem like absolute wardrobe essentials.
