We love new products, trends and tips but ever wondered about wearing them in real life? Each week we’ll take on a test drive, from the newest nail colour, to playing with perfume or seeing how long that hairstyle actually takes and share what we find (sweet, not-so-sweet and everything in between).
Who: sweetspot.ca's editorial interns Cara and Vanessa
What: Two chic outfits, incorporating our spring trends, for the low, low price of $20 each
Where: Value Village
Why: We may not be able to trump this girl's $5 outfit, but we were confident our interns could each work wonders with $20.
After a few misses (and an awesome find of Nudie jeans for $15)...

... our interns hit it big:
On Cara: A $4 cream tank top, a
printed midi skirt for $11, and a navy belt with a brass buckle for $4.
On Vanessa: A $12 dress with
'70s flair and intricate
weave detailing and a canvas belt for $4.
Tips: "Focus on one trend. The inventory at Value Village can be overwhelming, so it’s best to try to narrow your focus. Also, be sure to try everything on. I found a great neon shirt dress that turned out to be a romper. (I only realized this when I accidentally put two legs in one of the leg holes.)" —Cara
"Use your imagination when shopping. At first glance, my over-sized linen dress looked more like a tablecloth. But with the addition of a woven ivory belt, it morphed into a figure-flattering A-line dress that’s perfect for spring!” — Vanessa
