sweetspot.ca! Welcome to our first blog posting!
We thought it would be most appropriate to introduce ourselves before we start rambling on about all of the things that inspire and excite us.
Who are we?
Ashleigh Dempster and
Amanda Blakley, co-founders of
The Society Global - a culture club for the creative class. (
Ed. note - we've been fans since back at the beginning.)
With chapters well-established in both Toronto and
NYC, we recently expanded to LA and hope to be hosting our first event in Miami early spring 2010 (we hope you’ll come along for the adventure)!
Our mandate is to showcase the best in culture for our peers. This doesn’t mean that we are claiming expertise in any of the many fields we dive into (from architecture to fine art, cuisine to graffiti, film, sport, pop culture and anything in between), we’re simply crazy for culture and passionate about connecting young people to the arts.

A little bit about us…the coles notes version:
We met in Bangkok nine years ago. Neither of us own cars. We Vespa in the summer months (matching black scooters) and when the leaves start turning we can be found cruising the streets on our matching black Batavus city bikes.
We both love dinner parties, scrabble, travelling, trying new restaurants, meeting new people, crave
Patachou pain au chocolat’s and bean and cheese burritos from
Burrito Boys. We are notorious for burning the candle at both ends and our minds are always racing as we’re continually on the hunt for exciting ideas and
experiences to curate for our members.
