We were just in NYC for a week and felt like sharing some of our favourite spots to chow down for breakie and lunch!
All three have lasted the test of time. Let’s face it….there’s a hell of a lot to choose from in the Big Apple but consistently good food, service and vibe have kept these gems at the top of our list.
Freemans
(End of Freeman Alley, Rivington & Bowery Streets)
Charming little cottage-cum- resto in the LES. The artichoke dip is to die for. In fact, after Amanda’s wedding, Annie (NYC Director of The Society) and Ashleigh dreamt about the dip on the entire 2 hour car ride back to Manhattan from the Catskills and had to go straight to Freeman’s in our pj’s for a fix. We recommend pairing the dip with a couple Bloody Marys and an order of Devils on a Horseback! Turns out a couple months later Ashleigh had her first date with her husband-to-be here!
Café Gitane & Café Habana
(242 Mott St., 17 Prince St.)
Right around the corner from each other both of these places are top on the list! They have a neighborhood feel, are frequented by an eclectic mix of models, artists, locals and tourists and serve authentic and inspired cuisine. We’re addicted to the avocado/lemon/olive oil and chili peppers on toast from Café Gitane (French-Moroccan) and the corn on the cob at Café Habana (Cuban).
