Occasional supper clubs and underground dining experiences are the speakeasies of the noughties.
They are entombed in Brooklyn, London, Berlin, Paris, Mexico City and even Toronto.
When did our dining enjoyment become so dependent on the impossibility of finding the restaurant, secret door, or being given the secret phone number/password?
Some say the underground dining movement was popularized by Alice Waters, famous Berkeley California chef of Chez Panisse. I guess it is based on the same principle as Amanda’s grandfather’s saying “the further the restaurant the better the food”.
Well, we have to admit to being romanced by this notion of the perfect meal and the perfect dining experience. In fact, we fell so head-over-heels in love with our dining experience with Diego Felix in Buenos Aires that we subsequently shared him with our members in NYC (two years in a row), Toronto and Los Angeles.
