Hey Sweetspotters! It’s Annie Evans here. Former Director of The Society’s NYC chapter and currently heading up the Miami office. Once in a while I’ll be jumping in to special report on behalf of The Society.
This week’s posting is focused on a recent trip I took to Dublin to rest and recharge after launching our Miami office.
My boyfriend and I (now fiancé after this romantic trip – but I’ll save that story for a rainy day), hit Dublin after spending a few days in the country cruising top down without a care in the world. Neither of us have been to the city so with a lil’ luck from the Irish (recommendations from Dublin locals), I was armed with an itinerary for an ideal way to spend 24 hours in this charming city.
10am – To kick start the morning, grab a fair trade coffee, organic smoothie & a healthy breakfast at
Nude, which happens to be owned by the brother of U2 lead man Bono.
11am – Once caffeinated, hit the streets for a little retail therapy. Grafton Street was my personal favourite. Make sure to hit
Brown Thomas, a high-end lifestyle boutique where Dublin’s stylish set stocks up on designer duds.
12:30pm – Grab a table at
Eden for lunch - it's a nice break from the typical pub fare and Irish staples.
3pm – For a culture high, spend the afternoon taking in the sites of
Hugh Lane which boasts cutting edge collections of modern and contemporary art.
8pm –
Coppinger Row is the best place in Dublin hands down for dinner. It offers fresh, simple Mediterranean dishes, perfect for sharing with friends. The resto is nestled in the heart of the funky, laid-back area of Coppinger Row, smack dab in the middle of south city Dublin. They only accept reservations for six or more so if you’re not travelling in a pack, just rock up and get cosy at the bar until they call your name.
10pm – Close the day with a night cap at
The Dylan Hotel bar. Known among in-the-know Dubliners for its decadent décor and killer cocktails, score a seat on the peacock-blue velvet stool at the bar & order up a couple of Guinness pints. The Dylan also gets my vote for the best place to crash in Dublin. Described as a “Boudoir-chic Victorian townhouse”, this hotel is within walking distance of all of Dublin’s must-see sights.
