While the rest of the city recuperated from a weekend of TIFF parties and galas, Culturites stepped into their Sunday best at the Hart House collegiate courtyard to participate in some friendly competition at The Society Cup – with delicious Hendrick’s Gin cocktails in hand, of course.
Hosted by fashion bloggers Samantha and Caillianne Beckerman of Beckerman Bite Plate, guests spent a leisurely afternoon enjoying the sweet sounds of DJ Brendan Fallis spinning golden oldies and playing vintage lawn games.
As guests battled it out on the badminton, croquet and bocce ball court for the title of the “Most Mightiest of Victors”, delicious British-inspired picnic fare like mini fish & chips and scones with clotted cream were passed around to satiate appetites.
In the end, it was the Purple team that took home the prized Hendrick’s Gin-inspired cucumber trophy. For those who opted out of the competition, buckets of crisp Heineken brews were on hand to quench the spectators’ thirst as the warm September sun beat down.
The sartorial competition was equally fierce as the Beckermans deliberated over the winner for the “Most Sartorial Nostalgist” trophy, which ultimately went to a gorgeous gal who was decked out in a canary yellow silk tank and a multi-colour printed skirt.
Big props to the Purple team for their victorious afternoon at The Society Cup this year, but the real question is whether they can hold onto that title next year. Stay tuned....
