About May Globus
Vancouver City Editor May Globus is obsessed with the sartorial and all that surrounds it: art, design, culture, music and film. Oh, and she really likes writing about it, too. A left coast girl at heart, her Sweetspot finds just might show why the westside really is the best side.
Five Fall Essentials

(Sep.06.11)
Thought I'd never say it, but I just might be ready to transition out of summer.
The coming season gives everyone an excuse to be excited for wearing new clothes, eating hearty comfort food again (a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup sounds divine right now), flipping the switch on the fireplace and walking home under trees morphing into brilliant shades of yellow, red and orange.
Here is a list of five items that have me in fall mode already.
Libre Tea Glass
Sooner than we know, the need for cold patio drinks will be replaced by a need for special coffees and hot teas. Instead of being wasteful every time I order a disposable cup of tea on-the-go from any one of this city's amazing beverage shops, I'm going to make my loose leaf drink chez moi. This pretty glass lets you brew two ways, too: in the glass or on top of the twist off filter.
$32.50; The Urban Tea Merchant, Vancouver Art Gallery or select Whole Foods locations; www.libretea.com
Native Shoes' Paddington Boot
The rain is a-comin' sometime! Every gal needs a study pair of rubber boots to splash about the city in, and these are just the pair for it. The laces indicate the sturdiness of a Sorel, but the rainbow of colors is as stylish as a Hunter. Only these are better.
$90; Gravity Pope; www.gravitypope.com
Sheepskin Coat
This piece is the ultimate versatile fall piece, because it's chic with denim, it's chic with skirt-and-tights combinations and it's chic with dresses. The texture is a major selling point, too—just say no to tired, plain and boring wool coats from now on.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
Omega 6, Evening Primrose, lavender essential oil and olive oil-derived Squalane ensure that complexions look as even and dewy as summer-kissed skin, especially when the dry weather acts up.
$48; www.kiehls.ca
Kangol Bubble Cable Snood
Keeping toasty is key during fall. This cable knit snood is easy to throw over your noggin, and just as easy to slide off if it gets a little too warm once you go from outside to inside. Plus, it's also transferable, so you can switch it up between coats as often as you like.
