Party Time

Two years ago I threw a surprise birthday party for my husband. Yikes! There was so much work involved, and though it was a lot of fun and totally worth it, I swore I’d never do it again.
Time (that sneaky devil) truly heals all, and somehow I forgot about the effort required. So this year I decided to throw another one – not a surprise – figuring that would cut down on details. I roped in my sister who loves to plan events and borrowed chairs and wine glasses from another, but of course, it was still tons of work. (Though watching my hubby cleaning the house in preparation was fun in and of itself.)
So when word came that a stunning event venue had opened in nearby Mile End, I had to check it out. Called Espace Reunion, it can accommodate parties, corporate meetings, weddings, vernissages and even fashion shows.
Owner Emmanuel Amar has taken over a huge industrial building and turned it into a stylish space that’s contemporary, chic and just a little edgy. (Modern brides, take note.)
Size does matter, as they have rooms for small private parties all the way up to weddings for 1200 guests. There's 10,000 square feet to play with, so your imagination can truly run wild.
And to top it off, they have a selection of caterers, bar service, personnel, furniture rentals and entertainment at your disposal. But you can bring in your own team too. They’ll even provide you with the documents you need to get a liquor permit.
Hmm, now we're talking.
