Sales, Sales, Sales

Just in case you’ve been hiding under a rock, or your BFF has been holding out on you, it’s sample sale time! Last week was Miss Sixty, this week starting Thursday TNT has a special charity sale with up to 25% off, and next week is the ever-popular Matt & Nat warehouse sale. (I speak from experience: bring nothing except cash hidden on your person for maximum grabbing/elbowing efficiency.)
But there are other things going on around that city that I thought you might like to know about. (And we simply don’t have enough room in the What’s Happening column!)
This Friday the 13th sees the once-a-year sale on J.U.D.E and Bodybag by Jude clothing. 13% off from 11am to 8pm at 17 Bernard W. Not a huge discount, but if you’re a fan, now’s your chance.
Non-profit outfit Le Chat des Artistes is having an Open House on November 20-21 from 10am-5pm. There you’ll find art, books, eco-furniture, jewellery and so much more. (They’re also open the same hours on December 11-12, in case you’re really scrambling for Christmas gifts in a month.)
For a special treat, photographer Linda Rutenberg is opening her studio at 1001 Lenoir to the public for the launch of her third book, The English Garden at Night. Simultaneously there will be a sale on works in her studio. Thursday, November 19 from 6-8pm, November 20 from 12-9pm and Saturday, November 21 from 12-5pm. (I love getting a peek inside the world of an artist!)
And finally, I’ve stumbled across a new consignment shop at 943 Mont-Royal E. that I think you’ll love. Called LXR 2nd hand, it’s actually a shop within a shop, inside Moly Kulte, eco-boutique extraordinaire. Barely-used clothing, bags, shoes and accessories from high-end brands like Gucci, Hermes, Cartier and Louis Vuitton at majorly reduced prices. (A sale of the more permanent kind.)
But whether you're shopping for others or yourself, remember to make a budget and stick to it. Buyer's remorse is never fun.
