Oh, spa...
montreal musings Montreal
(Jan.20.10)
There’s nothing like an afternoon at the spa to make you forget about winter – at least for a few hours, anyway. And discovering a hidden gem, well, that’s the proverbial icing on the cake.
Tucked away on the fourth floor of Ogilvy’s is the former “Coiffure on 4th”, now known as “O” Coiffure & Spa. To find it, head to the fourth floor and walk straight past the men’s and women’s fashion (if you can resist) and you'll find the narrow entrance.
Once there, you’ll encounter the lovely receptionist Marie, who will lead you inside where it opens into a spacious loft with 14-foot ceilings and wall-to-wall windows. The view of downtown Montreal is simply spectacular.
"O" offers hair and make-up styling, manicures, pedicures, facials, and massage. If you need an expert mani-pedi then I highly recommend you book Sandrine. She applied my dark plum colour with brush control like no one I’ve ever seen, and it lasted well over a week.
A blissful facial in the hands of veteran esthetician Laurie brought my skin back to pre-winter levels of hydration. She stroked and soothed my face until it was as smooth as a baby’s…well, let’s just say it was very smooth. It’s been over a month, and I can still feel the difference.
Owner Tony Sawaya is planning a makeover for the spa that will update and modernize the entire space.

I can’t wait to see (and experience) the after.
