Around this time last year, I wrote about ethical and edgy fashion, and OÖM Ethikwear was at the top of the list. Yesterday co-founders Pascale Clauzier and Pascal Benaskas-Couture celebrated their five-year anniversary with a presentation of their Spring-Summer 2010 collection for men, women and babies up to 24 months.
To mark the occasion, they also launched an innovative recycling program. Rather like the consignment on aluminum cans, you can return any item of OÖM Ethikwear clothing to the home office (in person or by mail) in exchange for a 5$ gift card (actually an electronic number). This coupon can then be used towards your next online purchase.
Clothes that are in good condition will be sent to non-profits and fripperies while the rest will be recycled into industrial rags. If that’s not enough, they intend to purchase carbon credits to become a carbon-neutral business. Inspiration for this clever "Carbon Diet" t-shirt…
The upcoming Fall-Winter collection will feature polar fleece made from recycled bottles – how cool! – as well as recycled cotton.
Most of the Spring-Sumer 2010 collection is already in stores and the rest will arrive by the end of the month.
Wishing OÖM - and you - many happy returns.
