I have been wrestling with my hair ever since I hit puberty. (Would you believe that it used to be pin straight and blonde?) Frizzy, coarse, extremely thick – you name it, my hair is it. (See previous whinge post here.)
On the glass-half-full side of things, it’s a beautiful, complex shade of reddish-blonde that I owe to my great grandmother. The only thing I hate is the frizz. I used to flat iron it to death, but in the last year finally acknowledged that it really doesn’t look good pin-straight. At least, not with the straightener I was using. Limp. Lifeless. (And when you can see all your layers, what’s the point?)
But thanks to one snazzy new flat iron, things just got very interesting…

The Versa Style by Rowenta Beauty is barely out of the box and it’s already changed my hair routine forever. It straightens in the blink of an eye, it curls, it waves, and it makes me look like I just went to the salon every time. (I’ve tried it three times so far.) Even the first time, when I wasn’t sure what I was doing!
My hair glides through the plates without snagging, it's easy to manipulate and I haven't burnt my fingers, ears or scalp once. (Ouch.)
It’s sold in fine salons and available online for $229. Yup, it’s expensive, but it’s professional quality, replaces at least three other styling tools (I’ve already given mine to charity) and will save you a ton in blowouts and up-dos in the long run. I swear, you won’t be sorry. Let me demonstrate…
This is the halfway point; see the frizzy mess on your right?
And here is the final product. I almost feel like cutting my hair, just to see what I can do with it short…
Someone hide the scissors.
