I’ve been covering Montreal Fashion Week. Read on for my review of Denis Gagnon, or see what I’ve already posted about:
You couldn’t have asked for a better finale.
Denis Gagnon staged his runway show inside handbag partner
Fullum & Holt’s factory. But we could have easily imagined we were at Paris Fashion Week, as the sombre mood, haunting music and edgy location managed to sweep us away from the snow that was just beginning to fall outside.
The Crystal Chrysalis collection (chrysalis is the pupal stage of a butterfly, when it’s enveloped by its cocoon) was aptly named as the jerseys, silks and wool were cut very close to the body. Post-show, the designer told me that he sewed most of the 43 pieces himself.
Quilted coats, leggings and asymmetrical dresses were plentiful, while sparkling sequins brought a touch of glamour into the mix.

Then the lights went down and the music got even louder. Party time!
