Desperate for beauty cures, we raid the kitchen pantry like drunken pirates. We take cucumber slices to sooth our puffy eyelids and we grab oatmeal for our acne. But did we think of raiding the spice rack? Mindy Shear Not until we decided to try the new Hungarian Facial (starts at $60) at Mindy Shear, featuring paprika. (The country’s last beauty export may have been the Gabor sisters, but we were too intrigued by the idea of becoming a deviled egg to care.)

After a thorough cleansing and hydrating mist, we were exfoliated with a fruit pulp AHA. That prepared our skin for the trademark paprika herbal treatment, lifting our skin and improving elasticity. And what a tingle!. Perfect timing for a soothing blueberry Soya soufflé mask and a chocolate mousse hydration mask (don’t get this treatment on an empty stomach).

Our esthetician, Ivy, customized every step of the process. For our specific skin type, she finished off with herb spot serum, a tomato serum for oil control and a tomato-based sunscreen. And we can’t forget the amazing eye massage.
