“Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical.”
So says Sophia Loren, and so says the wall in the new Dove Spa.
We’re not accustomed to a beautification business telling us to be pretty on our own terms (there are positive messages on all the clean white walls), but it makes sense coming from the company that launched the campaign for real beauty.
And real it is: the spa offers all the standard face and body treatments, and the Dove Spa professional-grade products they use are not available on supermarket shelves.
With nine different collections that focus on different needs and skin types, we knew our personalized facial ($70-$110, depending on length) could be truly personalized. The treatment started with a 15-minute skin analysis using a medical-grade machine (don’t ask the techie details; we just know that a pain-free probe measures oil, water, elasticity and pigmentation levels in our skin).
The facial was everything we would expect from a great spa (including a heated bed and the ability to pick our own background music). Thanks to our previous diagnosis, we ended up with a different mask on our T-zone than our cheeks – and a glowing look all over.
(Plus, the walls assured us, we were already pretty on the inside.)
