We love to be the first to have something before the big city to the north of us. (Yes, the Albertan rivalry is still running strong.) A little boost to our bragging rights is justified now that we have the first Albertan location of
The Little Gym right in our own backyard.
Making its southern debut on June 15 in Airdrie, The Little Gym offers non-competitive gymnastics for our active tot (we're not interested in raising the next Olympic gymnast). Building self-confidence and creating a solid base of motor and perceptual skills are medal-worthy benchmarks at The Little Gym.
Owners Deb Elliot and Tracy Schmaltz want to let kids be kids and have fun. Infants (OK, maybe their parents) all the way up to 12-year-olds are encouraged to try their best and challenge themselves.
We were practically doing somersaults when we heard about the Parents' Survival Night ($25 for first child, $12.50 for siblings, 25 per cent discount with $35 annual family membership). We'll enjoy a night out while our little gymnasts (ages 3-12) enjoy a night in, with friends, snacks, games and music -- all under the watchful eyes of professional instructors (the perfect babysitters).
With the opening of The Little Gym, we can safely chalk another one up for Calgary.
